Our region is known for the legendary King of Pylos, Nestor, described as brave and wise in Homer’s Odyssey. Excavations going back to 1939 revealed his palace, along with its olive storage area at the rear of the throne room. And though we cannot claim royal descent, what we share with King Nestor is the love for cultivating our olive groves. As proud Messinians, we’ll always root for our roots.
